Gooner In Cali Predictions

  • Norwich City12:45Liverpool

0-3

The scoreline may seem to flatter Liverpool, but I think they’re dangerous coming off the back of decent performances in two tough matches.  While Mignolet always has a blunder in him, I don’t see Norwich posing enough of a threat on the counter.

  • Crystal Palace15:00Tottenham Hotspur

2-2

Spurs have been scoring and not conceding too often, and Crystal Palace are due for a win.  Palace’s goals seem to have dried up.  I think that their counter-attacking style will be enough to match a tired Tottenham, who is coming off of a difficult FA Cup tie in midweek.

  • Leicester City15:00Stoke City

2-1

I’m touting this as the match of the weekend.  Leicester, having rested their stars on Wednesday, will be looking to get back to their stunning form from the first half of the season.  Stoke City will be looking to come out all guns blazing, although Shaqiri is still out.

  • Manchester United15:00Southampton

2-0

Despite the embarrassing Arsenal shocker against Southampton, I don’t think that Ward-Prowse will have another brace.  Manchester United will always get at least one goal from a penalty at Old Trafford and probably another from a mix up in the box.  I hope I’m wrong here!

  • Sunderland15:00Bournemouth

1-3

Bournemouth and Eddie Howe have been holding their own despite their injury list.  The addition of Afobe should seal the deal for this weekend, at least.  Defoe has a second-half goal in him, but Sunderland are just poor.

  • Watford15:00Newcastle United

1-2

Deeney and Ighalo versus Shelvey and Ayoze.  Both teams will think that they can win this match, especially with the momentum in Newcastle’s favor.  Watford won the cup tie, but the Premier League is a different animal.

  • West Bromwich Albion15:00Aston Villa

3-0

Villa need to seal the deal on some of their speculative signings; Debuchy, Vidic, etc.  If WBA come out firing, they’re three goals better than Villa at the moment.

  • West Ham United17:30Manchester City

2-4

Payet is back, and West Ham look a different side.  Expect a composed match with some excitement, but it’s tough to see City being beaten at Upton Park with Aguero in the side.

  • Everton13:30Swansea City

2-1

When it clicks for Everton, it will be great.  I’m guessing that this may be a match with a lot of chances, but only a few that end in the back of the net.

  • Arsenal16:00Chelsea

4-2

This fixture has to be the most bipolar of our season in recent years.  Which Arsenal are we going to see?  The frightened, sit-back, defensive error leading to a 2-goal deficit Arsenal, or the kings of the league, untouchable Arsenal.  I’m going to choose the latter, factoring red cards involving Costa (for either side) out of the equation.  I can see Hazard and Willian hurting us with a goal each, but I am hoping that we’ll score first with some combination of a Giroud brace, a goal from open play for Alexi, and scrap in the opposition box leading to one from our wingers or a defender.
